The foundation everything else depends on.
Networks, systems and infrastructure engineered to be fast, resilient and ready to scale — not a patchwork held together by good luck.
Infrastructure decisions carry further than most people expect
Every infrastructure decision — a storage platform, a network design, a virtualization layer — has to hold up against performance, availability, security, capacity, scalability, resilience, operational support and lifecycle, all at once. Getting one of those wrong doesn't usually show up immediately; it shows up months later, at the worst possible time.
Techniics works as your infrastructure advisor and architect: assessing what you have, designing what you need, and staying involved through implementation, migration and the years of operation after go-live. The goal isn't a one-time build — it's infrastructure that keeps making sense as the business changes around it.
That's the same assess-advise-architect-integrate-optimize approach behind everything we deliver: understand the environment honestly before recommending anything, design around evidence rather than a vendor's preferred stack, and stay accountable for how it performs once it's live — not just for the day it was handed over.
What we cover
From strategy and design through to the systems that keep it all running day to day.
Infrastructure strategy & assessment
A clear-eyed read on what you have today, where it's exposed, and what growth actually requires.
Architecture & design
Built around how your business operates and where it's headed, not a generic reference template.
Compute & enterprise storage
Right-sized compute and storage platforms, from software-defined data centers to hybrid flash arrays.
Virtualization & software-defined infrastructure
Compute, networking and storage managed as one abstracted system instead of racks of disconnected hardware.
Network infrastructure
Reliable, segmented network design that contains problems instead of letting them spread across the environment.
High availability & capacity planning
Infrastructure sized and designed for where the business is going, not just where it is today.
Modernization, migration & lifecycle management
Planned refresh and migration cycles that replace what's failing before it actually fails.
What each capability actually involves
Infrastructure assessment & strategy
Before recommending anything, we document what's actually running: hardware age and condition, capacity headroom, single points of failure, and how workloads are performing against what the business needs from them. That assessment becomes the basis for a strategy — what to keep, what to replace, and in what order — rather than a proposal built around a preferred product line.
Compute platforms
Compute sizing depends on the workload it's carrying — transactional systems, virtualization hosts and data-intensive applications all have different profiles for CPU, memory and I/O. We size compute against actual application requirements and expected growth, not a fixed template, and account for redundancy so a single host failure doesn't take a service down with it.
Enterprise storage & data platforms
Storage decisions balance performance, capacity and cost — flash for latency-sensitive workloads, hybrid or object storage for capacity-heavy or archival data, with compression, encryption and protection features applied appropriately. We also plan for recoverability: a storage platform that can't restore quickly under pressure isn't actually protecting anything.
Virtualization
Virtualization is where compute, storage and networking come together operationally — done well, it simplifies management and improves resource utilization; done poorly, it becomes a single point of failure for everything running on it. We design virtualization layers with resilience and operational manageability built in, integrated with the storage and network design underneath it.
Network infrastructure
Network design determines how far a problem spreads. Segmentation, redundant paths and properly planned capacity mean a misconfiguration or compromised device stays contained rather than affecting the whole environment. We design network infrastructure to support current traffic patterns and the growth already on the roadmap, not just what's running today.
High availability & resilience
Availability requirements differ by workload — not everything needs the same level of redundancy, and over-engineering it wastes budget that would be better spent elsewhere. We match resilience design to what a workload actually needs: redundant paths and failover where an outage is costly, simpler designs where it isn't.
Data-center modernization
Modernization usually means consolidating aging, fragmented hardware into a software-defined platform that's easier to manage and scale — without disrupting what's currently working. We sequence modernization projects so critical services stay available throughout, moving workloads in a controlled order rather than a single high-risk cutover.
Capacity & lifecycle planning
Hardware doesn't fail on a convenient schedule, but its risk profile is predictable enough to plan around. We track capacity headroom and equipment age against the business's growth trajectory, so refresh and expansion happen on a planned timeline and budget instead of as an emergency response to a failure.
From infrastructure assessment to operational readiness
Infrastructure work rarely starts from a blank slate — it starts with what's already running, the team that operates it, and the constraints they're working within. We begin with discovery: understanding the current environment, talking to the people who manage it day to day, and identifying where the real risk and opportunity sit.
From there, design and implementation happen collaboratively with your internal team, not around them. By the time a project reaches handover, your staff have been involved throughout — documentation, configuration detail and operational knowledge are transferred as part of the engagement, not bolted on afterward as an extra step.
A staged approach, not a single big-bang project
- 01
Assess
Understand the current environment, its constraints and where the real risk sits.
- 02
Design
Architect the target infrastructure around performance, availability and growth.
- 03
Implement
Build and configure the new environment against the agreed design.
- 04
Migrate
Move workloads across in a controlled sequence that protects uptime.
- 05
Optimize
Tune, monitor and refine performance once the environment is live.
Where we're usually brought in
- Modernization assessment of an aging or fragmented environment.
- Capacity expansion ahead of a known growth event.
- A planned hardware refresh program instead of reactive replacement.
- New workload deployment that needs infrastructure designed around it.
- Consolidation of infrastructure spread across too many disconnected systems.
Infrastructure doesn't exist in isolation
An infrastructure decision rarely stays contained to infrastructure. A storage platform affects backup and recovery strategy; a network redesign affects security segmentation; a virtualization change affects what your team needs to know to operate it day to day. We look at those connections before recommending a design, not after it's already built.
- How it fits with existing security architecture
- Where it connects to cloud or hybrid workloads
- Data protection and recovery implications
- Who operates it once it's live
- Total lifecycle cost, not just build cost
- Internal skills needed to run it confidently
Problems we see across most infrastructure environments
- Aging infrastructure that's increasingly expensive and risky to keep running.
- Fragmented technology vendors with no single point of accountability.
- Capacity constraints that surface at the worst possible moment.
- Resilience gaps that only become visible during an actual outage.
- Uncontrolled lifecycle costs from hardware refreshed reactively instead of on a plan.
What good infrastructure actually delivers
- Greater resilience against hardware failure and unplanned downtime.
- Infrastructure that scales with demand instead of blocking it.
- Reduced operational risk from a modernized, supportable environment.
- A predictable lifecycle and refresh budget instead of surprise capital spend.
- Better visibility into what's running, its capacity and its condition.
Questions we're usually asked
What does an infrastructure assessment include?
A review of current hardware age and condition, capacity headroom, network design, virtualization layer and known failure points, benchmarked against what the business actually needs from its infrastructure — resulting in a prioritized set of findings, not just a generic health-check report.
Can Techniics support hybrid environments?
Yes — most of the environments we work in are hybrid by necessity, with on-premises infrastructure and public cloud both playing a role. We design and operate infrastructure so the two work as one system rather than two separately managed estates.
Do you work with our existing hardware and vendors?
Where it makes sense to, yes. Modernization doesn't have to mean replacing everything at once — we assess what's still fit for purpose and design around it, rather than defaulting to a full rip-and-replace.
